Reading Specialist. Linguistic Specialist. Master Teacher.

I teach because of my love for students, and for love of the profession. I Love to see that “ah-ha” moment when the students really get it, and the room illuminates with their enthusiasm and a level of accomplishment.

Hi. I'm passionate about teaching and learning I'm an excellent problem solver I'm a self-esteem builder

About Me.

I believe all students can learn when their individual needs are met. I believe in helping my students develop skills to become independent, assertive, and creative thinkers. Skills that will prepare them for their roles in society. I do not tell students things they can discover for themselves. I facilitate the learning process. I provide the resources, guide, and allow them to explore. In this manner they will make new discoveries that are lasting.

I support equity and diversity. I am a staunch believer that every student must see positive representations of themselves and others in their learning and physical surroundings.

Collaboration

I believe that collaboration is a powerful way to harness students’ thinking. It stimulates more brain power. Every student has an idea that counts, thus I encourage and assign group work.

Group Norms

Deciding on group norms, or agreements, allow them to live what they see and learn. As a teacher, I teach my students to be good listeners and the art of asking questions, without fear. I teach them how to negotiate, to agree, disagree, take turns, and share.

Reflective Practices

I believe in reflective practices for my students and for myself. I believe in cultivating a classroom environment where students think about their thinking. I integrate opportunities for my students to plan, monitor, and assess their own understanding and performance.

More about my teaching

I manage my class by modeling and setting class expectations and structuring the learning environment to help my students feel safe, comfortable, and supported. I have the students make the rules to govern their classroom. When the students themselves set these rules, they are more apt to follow them. I encourage, and establish group agreements by deciding classroom norms from the onset. Deciding on group norms, or agreements, allow them to live what they see and learn. As a teacher, I teach my students to be good listeners and the art of asking questions, without fear. I teach them how to negotiate, to agree, disagree, take turns, and share.
